The Dreaming

The Dreaming is the result of a collaboration between Dunnet Wright Music and Didgemusic.com, and is unique; both in intent and in content. Compiled between October 2000 and May 2001, the CD features didgeridoo music composed by some of the world’s foremost contemporary, non-indigenous didgeridoo players.  It also contains a stunning video animation of an interpretation of an aboriginal creation story which you can view by popping the CD into your PC.

All of these tracks, both audio and video, have all been kindly contributed as a gesture of thanks, and in tribute to Australia’s aboriginal peoples. Without the ancient foundations laid by their traditional dreamings, the extraordinary music which is now produced from this exceptional instrument would never have been.

The cover art is a stunning original work by Guvullah (aka Mary Broome), an aboriginal artist working in Babinda, Queensland, Australia; it depicts the Rainbow Serpent in the centre surrounded by four culture heroes and representatives of the animal tribes. This will be available soon, both in poster sized prints and T-shirts also bearing the TASCA logo.

Yidaki is Teilhard Frost’s first didge CD.  It’s arrangements revolve around “some traditional styles, as well as more contemporary approach incorporating Afro-Cuban and Indian Influences”.

Teilhard, a Canadian born didgeridoo player, is both a maker and a player of instruments.   His company, called Frostwood Music and Instruments, has emerged as one of the leading manufacturers of non-eucalyptus didgeridoos in North America.   This success is due to the combination of Teilhard’s extensive knowledge of the mechanics and acoustics of wooden instruments, and his dedication to producing instruments of the highest quality.  Virtually all of the didgeridoos used in the recording were made by Teilhard, so Yidaki is quite literally a home-grown project. This CD is essential listening for those who enjoy music which has not been heavily technically modified.

Teilhard can be contacted at RR#3 Mansfield,Ontario, Canada, L0N 1M0, or by email at didgeit7@hotmail.com
